Short city trips are the perfect escape from everyday life. Even if the trip is planned only for a weekend, with packing everyone can be easily overwhelmed. The joy of cultural novelties and getting to know a city shrinks as soon as you make you lists to pack for the long-awaited city break. But every city trip outfit is easy to plan. Excess baggage and clothing for two weeks on your short trip are almost impossible with planning and that in every season.

What do I take with me on a city trip?

This is often based on your own needs during a short break. Are you strolling through the streets relaxed or is there a strict sightseeing program? These are important factors, for the first one you will find four outfits adapted to each season, each with the appropriate packing lists to print. For city trips you should then be well equipped in your suitcase.

On city breaks, outfits must be comfortable and optimal for hours of sightseeing. Good footwear is therefore an absolute must. That’s why I use basics like espadrilles, boots and sneakers. By the way, the matter of convenience is valid for everything. Adding to this is functionality of course. In winters, the look during sightseeing should keep warm and cool in summers. A cap or a sun hat also do good work.

Which bag is best for sightseeing?

The answer is quite simple: the companion should be small, handy and compact while sightseeing. Personally, I’m not a fan of backpacks when sightseeing. The risk of theft is slightly higher for backpacks than for handbags that can be worn on the front of the body. Crossbody bags or all bags with longer shoulder straps are perfect for this. So the bag can not just slide down and you have both hands free.

Plus: The 10 basics for every city trip you need

  1. Comfortable jeans – your favorite jeans should never be left at home on city trips
  2. Simple T-shirt – same as for the jeans, it fits to everything and can be packed even in your bag for changing weather conditions
  3. Good shoes – whether sneakers, boots or sandals, they should be comfortable and worn before. Nobody wants to have blisters on their feet after a long day of sightseeing
  4. Shoulder bag – everything well stowed, practical and handy
  5. Simple dress – always good to have, when you should go out for dinner in the evening
  6. Thin sweater – especially in summer, it can be tied around the hips and quickly thrown over when there is a cool breeze
  7. Headgear – whether a hat in the summer or a beanie in the winter, your head should be protected
  8. Favorite accessories – best, when matching every outfit
  9. Sunglasses – whether winter or summer, the eyes should also be protected
  10. and of course a camera to capture the memories of the city trip
