It has long been proven that nature has a calming and relaxing effect on us. It is precisely because of our fast-paced everyday life that we often seek deceleration. Gardening is currently very much in trend. For a long time now, gardening has no longer been seen as necessary, but with an effort that gives us visually appealing results. And even faster than with conventional sports.

Why gardening is currently in the latest trend?

The coronavirus affects our everyday life enormously. But even if we gladly accept these restrictions to protect society, it changes our routines. Through exit restrictions, social distancing and self-isolation, many of our daily doings and activities fall away. The weekly dinner with friends, the evening walk to a gym or the weekend outing to the countryside. Especially the latter is important for our relaxation. Just 20 to 30 minutes in nature can significantly reduce our stress levels, as environmental scientists at the University of Michigan found in a study.

In the currently uncertain times, there can be a lot of stress despite deceleration. In order to relieve this stress in the long term, gardening is enjoying greater popularity – whether in the garden, on the balcony or for indoor planting.

The trend initially even emptied the shelves in hardware stores when they were still open in all regions. But even with the closure of many shops, the popularity of gardening is not diminishing – thanks to a large selection in online retailing.
