In the dreary winter it doesn’t hurt to go for a little more colour fashion wise. Corduroy is perfect for this. Especially the pink corduroy trousers are currently experiencing a fashion high. We’ll show you how to turn the trend piece of the hour into your favourite piece in the wardrobe and where you can shop for it. To the question: “Is corduroy still modern?”, we can confidently answer YES.
Many do not dare to wear, since corduroy is quite preloaded. It reminds us of bourgeois maths teachers who wore sandals with socks to brown corduroy trousers, or older men who sit in their garden chair with their corduroy trousers and a pipe in their mouths at the roadside. All these memories stand in contrast to a fashion it piece. But all these prejudices (and the colour brown) are quickly forgotten, the cord is comfortable. And are we honest, if a garment is comfortable and fashionable, then we love it even more, don’t we?!
The perfect combination: Corduroy Pants and Millennial Pink
After a relatively long search, I found my beloved corduroy trousers at Zara. The Culotte cut shines in a beautiful millennial pink. The pockets are unfortunately only hinted at, which often makes me wonder where to put my mobile phone. The warm cord keeps me warm even in winter, although the Culotte cut ends slightly above the ankles. The looks I got when I first tried to wear it were mixed. But, I also got compliments, because “Cord is now absolutely trendy”. Well then, I thought to myself, everything done right. After wearing it a few times, I was safer in my looks and arrived with my pink corduroy trousers.
What is corduroy?
Cord, also known as cord velvet, rib velvet or corduroy belongs to the category of velvet fabrics. The stripe effect is caused by the weft thread, which only forms the pile. Cord is a very durable weft velvet made of cotton or wool. At regular intervals the fabric becomes the trend material. The fabric was first used in England in the 19th century as work trousers and riding breeches. It was not until 1900 that Parisians discovered the fabric for themselves. In the 1930s, corduroy trousers were used as mountaineering trousers. But the Beatles made the cult trousers famous in the 60s at the latest. The Corduroy velvet pants are manufactured in different qualities: Babycord (fine-ribbed), Genuacord (medium ribbed), Breitcord and Fancycord (differently ribbed).
Corduroy Trend 2019 / 2020
The pink corduroy trousers are definitely daring and stands out. But even the otherwise not so fashionable can wear corduroy. In combination with black, the piece is brought down to earth. We like! This is the mild version of the corduroy trousers.
