In the 90s we loved the cargo pants trend. At the latest when Karl Lagerfeld combined cargo trousers to a Chanel jacket in 1994/95 they had their big breakthrough. The greats of the R’n’B wore them in their coolest music videos of the 90s. J.Lo. wore the cargo pants combined with high heels in the music video for heir single “Jenny from the Block”. By such combinations the trousers lose the reputation of the workwear and become a trend. The renaissance of cargo pants was not long in coming, because now they are on everyone’s lips again. We like!
The unique feature of the mostly khaki or beige cargo trousers are the large pockets between the hips and knees on the sides, often a drawstring and, since the 2000s at the latest, zip-off trouser legs. In a figurative sense, the bags gave it its name because they can carry a lot. In English Cargo stands for freight. But first the cargo trousers were developed for the military.
Cargo Pants Trend 2019
How we combine cargo pants
The trousers are still bursting with comfort and conceal unpopular areas through their wide cut. This year the cut has become more figure-hugging and the trousers are no longer in the height of the hips, but a whole lot higher. Probably the simplest and most relaxed variant is in combination with a simple spaghetti strap top, a cropped sweater thrown over it and chucks.

We’ ve picked out our favourite cargo pants from the online shops for you!
Especially in autumn and winter the combination with sockheels, a crewneck sweater and a wool coat is ideal. As an alternative in summer you can wear sandals with block heels and an oversize blazer.
To make sure that the cargo pants don’t look too sporty and burschikos, the pants can be worn with high heels, a white oversize shirt or a playful blouse. Even a break in style is desired here!
